The English wheel
The English Wheel is the basic application for all cold forming. The principle is that metal sheets are pressed between two wheels, one of the wheels is pressed down on the metal sheet with a pressure depending on the targeted elongation, the thickness of the sheet, and the final shape. Using the English Wheel requires a skilled operator.
Nieland presses use this principle to create elongation. The difference is that one of the wheels is motorized to automatically feed the plates.
