SBP presses
- SBP presses are the most common and most universal shipbuilding presses within Nieland’s product range. The various toolsets enable their versatility;
- The PWU rolling unit enables the elongation of material.
- Toolset one, allows the bending of the material.
- Toolset two, allows stamping.
It is the combination of all these tools that enable the operator to produce double curved panels in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses in one single press. The most distinctive virtue of the Nieland SBP press is the combination of bending, rolling, and stretching applications in one single press.
PWP presses
PWP Presses are rolling presses. The PWP press is designed for the stretching part of the forming job. This press works well in combination with at least one SBP press. The SBP press can, in that case, waive the rolling unit of the PWU series.
The main reason for this combination is motivated by large volumes of steel at a shipyard and the need for locking out tool change time, thus gaining productivity.
Productivity is increased due to the possibility of simultaneous rolling and bending jobs. Because rolling is applied during about 30-35% of the production time, we see combinations of one PWP press with two SBP presses as an efficient combination for larger shipyards with large steel volumes of 40-60.000 ton/year or more.
